But it feels good anyway. Unfortunately, it looks like Prop 8, the ban on gay marriage, is going to win- so the day is bittersweet. I’ve been pretty spoiled over here in the Bay Area, thinking it had a good chance of losing because everyone in town seems to be against it. But I took a look at the map, and most of California is brown for Yes on 8, as opposed to probably one yellow “No on 8″ spot (the bay, of course). My friend told me the Yes peeps targeted suburbs, where people were most likely to be swayed by the school-age props used in Yes ad strategies. Also, Mormons have money.

But at least we got some hope out of it all.

Carrying a majority of the popular vote, Obama did especially well among women and young voters, who polls showed were particularly sensitive to the current climate of everything being fucked. Another contributing factor to Obama’s victory, political experts said, may have been the growing number of Americans who, faced with the complete collapse of their country, were at last able to abandon their preconceptions and cast their vote for a progressive African-American.

Citizens with eyes, ears, and the ability to wake up and realize what truly matters in the end are also believed to have played a crucial role in Tuesday’s election.

Also WTF is with Prop 2 … I know piggies are cute- Charlotte’s Web made me cry, and I acknowledge that animals feel, etc. -but it’s kind of messed up that we’d rather give things we eat more rights than people right next to us.

McCain’s concession speech was touching and classy (I’d say the opposite for his audience), bringing back memories of the not-so-conservative tough but jolly old Republican guy that we used to know from back in the day.

And what happened to Sarah Palin?

She gets to take her parka back to Alaska.
