Our ridiculously talented friends, The Flatmates, not only won the Campus Music Fest this weekend but were also Western Regional Finalists for the Campus Movie Fest. After dominating suckers left and right on Saturday night’s Music Fest, they came back to the City on Sunday to try and make a sweep at the Campus Movie Fest with their wildcard film, iPossibilities.
Pics of our day after the jump.
Testing out my new camera and bootleg fisheye. The quality of pics only get worse from here.
Libster (one of The Flatmates) and The Bandit.
Flatmate and auteur extraordinaire Liz, with Mommy Dearest.

Where we pick up our grab bags of caviar and Cristal.
That guy in the red is totally yummy.
Flatmate Hayley, in her bid to become our generation’s Helen Hayes.

After the noontime screenings, we had a few hours to kill before the grand evening gala and awards. So we popped into the Japan Center’s bookstore, and I got to take a look at, amongst others, the new BAPE restrospective book. As Bape-saturated as the market might be, there was a time when BAPE was the impossible-to-get streetwear standard. I plan on getting this book eventually.
Japan is >>>>> us. Magazine-slash-catalogues with unnecessarily extravagant packaging and cool gifts like tote bags and tees inside each one. That Marc Jacobs one would be a rad gift, no?
“When the last time you heard it like thissssss…”
Superior Engrish v.1
Way over my head. Book titles are always way too cryptic.
See what I mean?
The closest I’ll ever get to a real Eames. For now. dun dun dunnnnn
After a quick bite (again), we swooped into Goodwill to look for WWF action figures and Dino Masters tapes. Instead, we found Richel. Hi Richel.
Ah, the main event! The Regency Ballroom hosted the night’s affairs, and it looks a lot better than my garbled photo implies. Despite Libster’s best attempts to help me figure out my camera, I am nevertheless photographically impotent. For now. dun dun dunnnnn
Same day, different shit.
Paparazzo.
The CMF tour bus. If and when we get a Steel Crew short bus, I’m gonna paint “Fuck bitches. Get money.” on the side, to offend as many people as possible.
He’s wearing pink, LULZ. Dude, that’s soooo 2003.
We got tired of caviar and champagne, so we get some wagyu beef and Grey Goose instead.
Winner winner, blueberry waffle dinner.
iPossibilities and The Flatmates didn’t place in the finale (believe me, we’re demanding recounts from Florida), but it’s incredible to see so many visionaries with limited time, no money, and even less sleep putting together films that honestly have as much, if not more, entertainment and artistic value as anything you see on screen or TV. I have to applaud the corporate bigwigs who sponsored this event - ATT and Apple, amongst others - who freely invest in the creative capital of young minds.
That’s right - freely. Aside from the bridge toll (and plane tickets from those genius kids from Seattle), the whole event, the refreshments, the prizes - they were all without charge, allowing every person who wanted to join in on the festivities to do so.
Congrats again to The Flatmates. They’re real winners. For now. dun dun dunnnn
