An Animation: The Story of Google

Above is the retelling of The Story of Google by Nick Scott Studio. In the animation, the studio uses a notebook/sketchbook design to reinforce how ideas on paper become ubiquitous applications and services that enrich and manage our daily lives. For those who are not tech-savvy, you’d be surprised at how early some of these web apps started. You were fine with Yahoo mail or Hotmail until an e-mail client gave you one gig of free space, and now you can’t imagine life without 7 gigs. Hard to look back after that.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting to see how a company has weaved itself into our existence and this video showed that pretty well.

Why do I have a sudden need for a Backrub?

Cool animation, but the shaky cam and lack of time to read all the info were jarring. I prefer to not have to pause videos just to read the information they were created to show.

i like the animation but that shakey-cam is a bit distracting

Yeah it’s definitely stylistic, but I like the effort.

Great animation and creativity, but same as Kyle & Martoon, the shaky cam is making me dizzy, and lack of time to read the info…

I think you’re just supposed to get a feel for what they accomplished instead of dwell on the details.

Cool video and it make you think.. They met because they were interested in PATTERNS of the internet. Its MORE likely that they, if anything, became famous for a new routing protocol based on fractals or some other bizarre numerical concept. But, we have google instead. Its funny how things turn out sometimes..

Cool video!

I love the “book” approach taken by the animators, though I agree with the comments, they’re on the mark. A bit to much shake. Shakey bits, as it were ;-) We won’t go there though…Despite the fairly rapid pace etc, a fine piece of animation. Thoughtful note re: patterns…
