Why Taylor Swift Rocks
WORDS BY JessCe
:\
When people ask me what kind of music I listen to I usually respond with “everything but country” but I do honestly like Taylor Swift. Maybe I just want to like her because everyone else seems to have such an issue with her.
One reason I like her is because she started trying to get her career off the ground when she was eleven. Some of the artists on the radio got there based more on their looks or family (Cough, Miley Cyrus, cough) than anything else. Also, a lot of eleven year olds would have given up after the first five record labels rejected them and went on with their awkward phases in private.

Christopher Walken Performs “Poker Face”
First it was Cartman, and now Walken.
Don’t you wish Walken was your dad or at least somehow connected to your family tree. I can see him playing the weird uncle who’s always scaring the children.
Before Lady Gaga was famous…
…she didn’t look so bad. Whatever the case, there’s a no-hate-policy on Lady Gaga on this blog. Enjoy
I can never hate Lady Gaga
The homie D-rock sent me this video of Lady Gaga performing on Ellen, mostly so we can clown on her headpiece. But watching the video, it just wasn’t in me. From the moment she sang her first note on that piano, all evil intent was terminated. Her voice has so much range that you can’t knock her for her vocal chops. And the way she posished herself on that piano, guys would be nitpicky to be complaining about that. My point is…it’s just way too hard to hate on her. While many people would denounce her for her fashion decisions, I would, and I think some would agree, call her one of the truly avante garde. For the past 7 or 8 months while she’s been in the public eye, she hasn’t responded to any venom thrown at her direction, slowly reaching radio repeat status. She’s proven herself to be a bona fide showwoman and her appearance on Ellen is the accumulative result of all her passion and hard work.
And this has nothing to do with the fact that I met her once…
Ok maybe a little.
Puma “I Am 60″ Party with DJ Steve Aoki and Lady Gaga
Last Tuesday I made it out to Puma’s “I Am 60″ Party at the Great American Music Hall. I must say San Francisco is notorious for keeping abreast of the latest up and coming artists. Lady Gaga and DJ Steve Aoki were no exception. The line reached all the way to the end of the block and the house ended up being packed. When we first entered, DJ Tina T was spinning some very tasteful mash-ups including a dance version of “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” by the Bone Thugs. While the crowd waits for Aoki and Gaga, lots of jumping occurs, breaker circles are formed, and a couple of women are hoisted up on the shoulders of their boyfriends to check out…nothing because Steve Aoki hasn’t come out yet. AND THEN he arrives with his booming techno music and his bottle of Grey Goose at his hands. We heard the man is totally sober but we most certainly saw him pour the contents of the bottle down the throats of those in front row. And then it was off to backstage.
Lady Gaga with weapons of mass destruction on her head and shoulder. Here are a couple of interesting tidbits. I scored a free sandwich and I got to hear Lady Gaga warm up her vocals backstage. Stuff like that makes my night.
